Our next meeting will have another great speaker, provided by Bruce Anderson, who will be speaking to us from Atlanta about the Rotary Action Group Against Slavery, which is a worldwide issue today. It is hoped that this early advance announcement will enable more Rotarians to attend the meeting live or on ZOOM conference via the internet (access instructions below).
Bruce wishes to also say, "COVID Sucks! Though I am biologically programmed to not be a morning person, I really miss our weekly get-to-gathers… and seeing Y’all on ZOOM isn’t quite the same. That said, as you all know Rotary is a
service organization, and we are needed as much or more during these difficult times. Not too many years ago Rotary Action Groups came into being, and at our last meeting Ron Denham, founder of the Water and Sanitation and Hygiene Rotary Action Group [WASHRAG] spoke to us, via ZOOM from Ontario Canada. Bruce says, "I have learned a lot since I joined The Burleson Rotary Club in 1991, both about the amazing ways Rotarians make the world a better place, and the magnitude of the need for what we can offer. An article in Rotarian Magazine a couple of months ago told of a club that was meeting remotely and decided to donate the money that they otherwise would have spent for their meeting meal to an area food-bank. What a great idea. [Oh, BTW – their club was growing!]"
