The June meeting of the Board of Directors of the Burleson Rotary Club will be held a 7 a.m. on Wednesday, June 18, at Our Place restaurant. Usually, the board meets on the second Wednesday of each month, but this meeting will be on the third Wednesday. All Rotary members are welcome to attend.

BHS scholar awarded Rotary scholarship
As a result of YOUR commitment to Service Above Self, Burleson High School senior Anna Herod is headed to Texas State University with a scholarship for $10,000. President Rhyan Anderson presented Ms. Herod with the award at BHS's awards ceremony last week.
Anna Herod will study journalism at TSU, expanding on skills she has gained from her classes and activities at BHS. She has earned numerous awards for news writing, at both the district and state levels, and she served as copy editor for the school's yearbook. She is a National Honor Society member and an AP Scholar. She volunteers at Kerr Middle School, Hajek Elementary, Living Water Day Care, and Covenant Place, to list just a few.
Clearly, our scholarship committee has made an excellent choice. We look forward to meeting Ms. Herod soon, and we congratulate her on the fine body of work she already has produced at such an young age.

Beware of new email scam claiming to be from RI President Burton
A new email falsely claiming to be from RI President Ron Burton is targeting Rotary members. A letter attached to the email asks the recipient to send $1,500 to rescue missing children in China and claims that the sender will be rewarded with $3,000.
The fraudulent email has the subject line “RI President Ron Burton” and is sent from a fake email address. The letter attached to the email includes the Rotary logo, Rotary digital letterhead, and Burton’s electronic signature.
The email is a scam. Rotary staff is working to resolve the issue. Avoid being the victim of scams by deleting any email that appears suspicious.
